Fahrenheit 911 is a documentary that I love to watch and I think it was my best way of understanding the overall idea of how The "War On Terror" could have beem prevented. This documentary has allowed me to rethink some things I have thought about and believed about the happenings in the occurrences of 9-11. It has changed the way I feel about George Bush personally and how one person can make a decision that would affect billions of people on so many levels. Bush to me at times has no idea what he’s supposed to do. He’s a president who needs more that a bit of assistance and more than a hand to accomplish a task. He has also put his self in a relaxed position that allowed terrorist to interfere and become a threat. Bush has become a target to not only real terrorist but people who put their trust in him. Fahrenheit 911 allows me to think that Bush’s idea to send US Troops to Iraq was unnecessary. I do believe that it was a possibility that the plane crash into the Twin Towers but the result of the towers falling completely to the ground could have very much so been prevented.
I do believe governmental action could have monitor potential attacks prior to 911 but I do think that better preparation could have been done. There is always a chance of terrorist a lot thought that the US had a great amount of power with the image we portrayed. I strongly think that the government could have done things differently. In Fahrenheit 911 its mentions that papers where given to Bush that revealed the break down on how to get prepared for the worse; such as terrorist. It showed that he didn’t even bother to look at the files given to him. The paper work was said to be prepared for him by Condoleezza Rice herself. I feel as though it was her responsibility that she should follow up on him reading and understanding what was presented to him.
One question that I do value is:
What do you think the "war on terror" will mean to your children and grandchildren? Is it a war that can be won? Should it be a war at all?
I don’t think that it would mean much to my “children” and/or “grandchildren”. It’s a war that’s said and believes to go on for a very long time. Its believed that the “war on terror” will last for a couple of decades. If this is true, my “children” and maybe my “grandchildren” will live through it and be able to understand and know what is going on and have their own opinions about. In reference to the older people who have lived through the war since day one maybe stuck in their own beliefs which make it difficult for them to adapt to what is really going on. This also can be difficult in ways that the younger generation may try to be persuaded into believing the older solely on the fact that we as the older have lived throughout the whole entire war. It was very easy to get into the war. There is a much dangerous and harder way to get out of it.
I prefer Fahrenheit 911 over all the other documentaries because its geared more toward how it could have been prevented versus why it happened and who was involved in the happenings. In addition to it being Michael Moore's interpretation of what happened.
